Thrice Tried

Why can’t you see,

That this is faulty double jeopardy?

Because, then, if so,

Have you not been tried this way before,

Mo?

 

You may profess that she died,

For we know that is true,

But how many times will you have lied,

Before all is through?

 

Did you truly confess?

Did you sagely repent?

For I beseech thee, turn yourself in,

Do the right thing- consent.

Because we all know it is true,

You,

You did commit that crime.

That most terrible triple trial,

Unjust as it was,

Saw through your sanguine looks,

To the root of the cause…
